Going To The Zoo

It was a warm sunny Wednesday morning. My class and I went to the zoo. We had been trying all year to fill up our marble jar for our good behaviour.
We looked at amazing animals on our way to the meerkat enclosure. There were big rocks, sandy grounds and small tunnels in their enclosure. They looked so inquisitive, cute and cuddly. We tried to pat their soft fur, but they boldly crawled away.
There was one meerkat, furiously looking over the enclosure, looking out for any attacks.
Finally, we had to go, but two little baby meerkats came crawling over to us. They used their hands to dig holes on the ground. They looked like they were looking for treasure. After a little while, we had to leave the meerkats' enclosure to go to see the next animal.
The next animal we wanted to see was the spider monkey.
Step by step, we got closer to the spider monkeys' enclosure. Finally, we made it. They had long furry tails, colourful fur and their eyes were the size of marbles.  One monkey looked like it was meditating even though it was sleeping. There long heavy ropes and wire cages surrounding them, and big wooden poles standing in their enclosure. The monkeys were leaping onto the cage wire, sleeping and using their tails to hang onto their food.
Sadly, we had to move onto the next animal.
The last animal we saw was the Red Panda. As we got close to the Red Panda enclosure, I saw a beautiful lot of nature surrounding me. I only saw one Red Panda. It was sleeping on a leafy tree branch. The Red Panda's fur had a touch of maroon on its back, with black and white around its face and tail. It looked cute and cuddly.
After that, we had to go and get ready to leave.
When we got outside the entrance of Hamilton Zoo, I said to myself, “I had a lot of fun and, hopefully, we can come back here another day.”

The Lost Tigers

One sunny afternoon,  Zoey and Rex went to the zoo with their parents to see the baby tigers that had been born two weeks ago.
They had been walking around for a  period of time, when Zoey asked, “Can we go see the baby tigers now?”
Zoe's Mum replied, “Sure, that's why we came here in the first place."
They slowly walked over the wooden footpath and to the tiger cages.
When they got there, they saw a sign saying that the baby tigers had run away from their cage, so Rex suggested, “Why don’t we go and find the lost tigers?”
“I think that's a great idea,” said his dad.
The family split up and searched for the lost tigers.
Zoey went to look in the monkey enclosure. She saw something move behind the rocks. She went for a closer look. There it was - a baby tiger, but Zoey didn’t know how to get it out so she called for a zoo keeper to take it out.
Zoey went to find Rex. She found him by the giraffe enclosure. “Hey, Rex, guess what I found - one baby tiger."
Rex replied, “Well done, but I asked one of the zoo keepers how many tigers there were. She told me that there were three.”
Mum and Dad came running towards them, saying that they had found two baby tigers - one in a lady's purse, looking for something to eat, and one in the meerkat enclosure.
“Well done, guys. We have found  all the baby tigers,” said Rex.
Mum said, "That was a big day, and, now that the tigers are safe, the zoo keepers might want to keep an eye on the baby tigers. I think we should go home now.”

Monster Tag

It was a warm sunny, Sunday afternoon. My cousins, friends and I went over to play Monster Tag, in a big patch of long grass
As we went over to the big patch of grass, we couldn't believe our eyes. The big patch of grass was about the size of a soccer field. One of my cousins was the monster. Slowly, we crawled through the feathery grass. We all were as quiet as a spider on its web, waiting for its prey. It felt like the grass was a never ending maze. I heard a noise behind me. It was my cousin, the monster. She rushed behind me. It was down to speed. I quickly went to find a place to hide. I said to myself, "I can do this." I found a place to hide. She put her hand out but, when I saw it, I crawled as fast as I could. I made it. I never got tagged. Yay!
I said to myself, "Next time, I think I should be the monster."

Going To A Horse Show

One rainy Saturday afternoon, my Nan, Granddad and I went to a Horse Show in Mystery Creek in Hamilton.

As we went inside, I was excited. There was a big crowd. As I watched through the show, there was only one part that was amusing. It all started with a man dressed up as a cowboy riding a wild horse.

He had to do an obstacle course while riding the wild horse. There was one part of the obstacle that made it difficult for the horse. The horse had to stand on a medium size rubber tyre with a round piece of wood on it so that the horse could stand on it.
As the rider and the horse came towards the tire, the horse stood up on the tyre and then it fell off. The second time it went on the tyre, it  wouldn't come off. Now the rider was stuck on the horse, so a lady came over and gave the rider a grey coloured whip. The guy whipped the whip on the ground but it still didn't come off, so the rider came off and went under the horse legs. Everyone laughed. The rider whipped the horse and finally it came off.

I said to myself that was so much fun and I hope we can do this again sometime.

Food For Dinner

These are some of my reasons why we should have sushi every week once a night.

My first reason why we should have sushi is because it is healthy.
Sushi is healthy because it has fish such as salmon and tuna. It has seaweed around and rice in the middle.

My second reason is that you don’t have to cook it.
All you have to do is get in the car and drive to the sushi shop.  It saves you time to do the dishes and clean the kitchen. All you have to do is take the sushi out of the carton, and when you're finished you can just throw the carton in the bin.

Now that you know my reasons you’ll probably agree with me why we should have sushi every week.

Skye and Storm

One day, on the last day of school, a girl and boy were walking  home from school and their parents brought them two dogs named Skpe and Storm. The children weren't expecting the dogs. As the parents waited for their children, they put the dogs in a box wrapped with colourful wrapping paper. When the children got home, they opened the box and saw the two dogs. The children were so surprised they cried with tears of joy. They were so grateful and happy. The children gave their mum and dad a big hug.

El Grego's Anti-Bullying Show

On Friday, my school and I went to watch the El Grego show in the hall. El Grego teaches children not to bully.
My favourite part was when El Grego tried to make a bird come out of a bucket. He invited someone from the audience up on the stage to help with his trick. He invited a girl called Hunter Rose up to help him. El Grego and his wife, Sue, got Hunter Rose a magic wand and said, “It better work,” but nothing came out of the bucket. They got her a bigger and bigger and bigger wand. The next wand they got out was so big Hunter Rose couldn’t hold the wand by herself so El Grego’s assistant, Sue, came out and helped her. Hunter Rose said,  “It better work,”  again.
They looked inside and saw a toy bird. It came out. El Grego said to everyone, “Don’t you want a real bird?”
The audience yelled out, “Yes!” so El Grego told Hunter Rose to say, “It better work,” so Hunter Rose did. A real live bird came out. Her name was Ruby. She had red and grey feathers. El Grego told everyone that Ruby would say anything she could hear. El Grego asked Hunter Rose if she wanted to pat Ruby. Hunter Rose said, “Yes.”
When the magic trick was over, El Grego asked Hunter Rose if she wanted an ipad.
Hunter Rose said, “Yes.”
Instead of getting one of those touch screen ipads Hunter Rose got an writing pad with googly eyes on it. The audience laughed with amusement.

Anti-Bullying Poem

Bullying is bad. It makes people sad.
You know you're not cool
You make yourself look like a fool.
People can't bear being bullied because they're so full of fear.
You call people names, you should feel so ashamed.
Maybe if you be nice, people would like you.
If you are being bullied, you should use your wits.
Instead of being mean, you should work as a team.

Holy Thursday Liturgy

Holy Thursday Liturgy

It was now the time of Passover. Jesus’ followers came to Him and said, “We will go and prepare everything for the Passover Feast. Where do you want to eat the feast?” Jesus answered, “Go into the city. A man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. He will go into a house. Tell the owner of the house, “The teacher wants you to prepare the room for the Passover meal.” So the followers left and went into the city and prepared the Passover Feast.
In the evening, Jesus went to that house with the twelve. While they were eating, Jesus took the bread and gave God thanks and praise. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and eat it; this is my body which will be given up for you.”

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave God thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and drink from it; this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.”

After some time, Jesus got up from the table and went to a different part of the room.  He put a large towel around him, making himself look like a servant.  After that, he poured water into a large bowl and began to wash the disciples' feet.  He then dried them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.

When Jesus had finished washing all of the disciples’ feet, he returned to the table.  "Do you understand what I have done for you?"  Jesus asked them.
Jesus is like a King - but even greater than a king, He's the King of Kings!  By washing the disciples’ feet, He was doing something that only a servant would do.
This is an example of how you should treat others.  You don't have to actually wash other people's feet, but do kind things to others and act like a servant for Jesus.

Hot Air Balloon Ride

Early in the morning, my school and I had a hot air balloon day on the school field.
I had to wait in a really big line because heaps of children wanted a turn. The balloon had red, yellow and orange stripes around it. It was named Wildfire.
As the line got shorter and shorter, I got nervous. Madeline, Paige and Brogan went up in the balloon with me. When it was our turn, we had to hurry because the balloon people had to hold onto the balloon because it kept going up.
As we got in the balloon, we got a fright from the flame thrower going off.
The balloon hovered above the ground. We climbed  in the balloon’s cane basket and had our turn. The basket we were in was enormous. The  balloon was enormous too.
While the balloon was lifted with ropes and lifted into the air, I was excited. The balloon was carefully going up to the sky and in the air. We didn’t go up that high, though. As the balloon was in the sky, it was floating gracefully. When our turn was finished, we climbed out of the balloon. We were so happy.  Yay! that was my first time in a hot air balloon.
It was so much fun riding in the balloon because it was my first time.

My Shell

On Wednesday, my teacher brought some shells to school. My class got to pick a shell. I picked a shell and it was shaped as an oval. It was really smooth. Our teacher said we could keep our shell and we were really surprised and happy. All of our shells came from Matauri Bay up north.

Honey Bees

What I found out: Honey bees go off and collect pollen and nectar from flowers. They get pollen in their pollen baskets and they get nectar and get it all around them. They bring it back to the hive and put it in the little cells in their hive and put the honey from their honey stomach and store it in the hive.

Symbols of the Holy Spirit

Fire reminds me of the flames when Jesus promised the apostles that he would send the Holy Spirit to them. Fire and the Holy Spirit give us light.
